CHAPTER- 3 (THE LIES AND THE REASONS)

{SCENE-1}

(Grace thinking hard “How can he? Wait, was it him that night outside my house?”)

GRACE: “Are you sure about this, Mia?”

MIA: “Of course I am”

GRACE: “No, I need to confirm this on my own. Mia?”

MIA: “Yeah”

GRACE: “Can you tell me about the guy whom Jake was with that night when we went out for the movie?”

MIA: “Sure.”

(Grace thinking “Now we will see who will win this Hide & seek game Mr. Jake?”)

MIA: “And make sure to tell me what’s going on because if he’s a stalker I’m going to….”

GRACE: “You will break-up?”

MIA: “No, I will kill him”

MIA: “How dare he mess up with my best friend? He must have a death wish.”

GRACE: (Pointing her with finger) “Now you are giving me goosebumps”

(Mia gives a look evil smile and Grace and Mia walks away from the isolated place.)

GRACE: “You are worse than me.”

MIA: “Why? I want to be scary sometimes too.”

GRACE: “Alright”

{SCENE-2} [Next day at School]

GRACE: (While walking) Hey! Nick! How you doing?

NICK: “Hey! Why it’s like that you never talked to me before and now you are suddenly.. Maybe you’re interested in me?”

GRACE: (Grace thinks to herself “In your dreams”) “Kind of.”

NICK: “Kind of?”

GRACE: (Playing coy) “Yeah, since I’m single. Why not get a date?

NICK: “Sure”

GRACE: “Really?”

NICK: “Yeah, why not?”

(Mia and Shwan looking at them from far)

MIA: “I didn’t know that she will do that good.”

SHWAN: “Maybe.. you underestimated her?”

MIA: (jealous) “No. I’m just worrying about my boyfriend going to her.”

(Mia leaves Shwan’s accompany.)

{SCENE-3} [After School]

(Nick and Grace sitting in a cafe)

NICK: “You told me that you have something to discuss with me on the phone. So, what it is?”

GRACE: “Well, I want to know about Monday night.”

NICK: “What about it?”

GRACE: “Were you with Jake?”

NICK: “Yeah”

(Grace thinks to herself “Was I wrong about him?”)

GRACE: (In doubt) “So.. Were you with him all night?”

NICK: “Yeah, it’s just we just played together and had fun”

GRACE: “Really?”

NICK: “Don’t make me look weird cause I’M STRAIGHT!”

GRACE: “Then I guess I need to go home”

NICK: “Wait! We just started!”

GRACE: “I actually have plans. Sorry for wasting your time.”

(Grace gets up from the chair and gets out of the café but she feels that something is not right. She looks back from the glass window of the café and see Nick talking to someone on the phone. So, she comes into the café and sit around him hideously.)

NICK: (on the phone) “I don’t understand you. Why not you tell the truth to Mia that you were not with me that Friday night? If you will say that you were in the club. What’s wrong with that? (listening) I’m telling you if she’s trusting you with that playboy rumor, then she will definitely try to understand and if she will still doubt you then just another girl.”

(Grace thinks to herself “I knew something was off and now I’m more curious about you Mr. JAKE”. Nick walks away from the café and Grace follows her)

GRACE: (To Nick) “Was it fun?”

(Stops walking and turns around)

NICK: “I guess not”

GRACE: “Then tell me everything or I will punch this beautiful face of yours”

NICK: “Look I don’t know what’s going on with you guys but I don’t want to become a puppet of someone”

GRACE: “So….?”

NICK: “I’m going to tell you”

GRACE: (Pointing his face with her punch) “You must”

(Grace and Nick went to the café to talk about the matter.)

NICK: “Look I don’t know what’s his deal but I’m sure about it that it’s not that serious.”

GRACE: (Instantly) “Cut the Crap”

NICK: (Explaining) “Okay listen, It’s simple. He told me to tell you that I was with him on the Friday night.”

GRACE: “Why?”

NICK : “Cause he thinks that Mia will breakup with him if she gets to hear that he went to a club without her permission”

GRACE: “He told you that?”

NICK: “Yeah”

GRACE: “Then…..did he know that we will go out together today?”

NICK: “Yeah”

GRACE: “HOLY GRACIOUS!”

NICK: “Was it a big deal?”

GRACE: “Tell me the name of the club he went to”

NICK: “I didn’t ask him. Was it a big deal?”

GRACE: (Thinking to herself "Of course it's not, but stalking me is a big deal") “Of course it is. Now don’t tell him that you told me that and make sure to hide your pretty little face from Mia cause I don’t know what she will be going to do to it when she will get to know this”

(Grace ignores Nick and walks out of the café, leaving Nick behind)

{SCENE-4} [At night]

(Grace takes out a black outfit to spy on Jake so that she can catch him red handed outside her house)

GRACE: (talks to herself in front of the mirror) “Okay, I’m done. I didn’t know I would look this good in black clothes, if I knew, I would have made sure that my wardrobe is full of them”

(Olivia suddenly opens the door of Grace’s room)

OLIVIA: “I want your jacket”

GRACE: “OH GOD. You are still alive! (Corrects herself) Oh I mean you are still awake?”

OLIVIA: “Ahhan.. Are you going somewhere?”

GRACE: “No”

OLIVIA: “Then why are you so packed?”

GRACE: “Just trying out clothes. Want them?”

OLIVIA: (Pointing to the jacket) “No. Just that jacket”

GRACE: “Are you going onto a date?”

OLIVIA: “Yes”

GRACE: “You made a boyfriend?”

OLIVIA: “Yes”

GRACE: “Do I know him?”

OLIVIA: “Yes”

GRACE: “Before that, Was he a longtime friend of yours?”

OLIVIA: “Yes”

GRACE: “Do I have his number?”

OLIVIA: “No! But I’ll send you”

GRACE: “Is his surname ‘Brandon’ ?”

OLIVIA: “Yes”

GRACE: “You will come by 11?

OLIVIA: “Yes”

GRACE: “Take it”

OLIVIA: “HUM..?”

GRACE: “Take that jacket away”

OLIVIA: “Thanks, bye!”

(Olivia takes the jacket and close the door and after that Grace hears something)

GRACE: (Talks to herself) “OH MY GOD, Is he here now? (Sees through the room’s window) No, It was Olivia”

(Now Grace is bored waiting for Jake to spy on her so that she can catch him red handed. So, she starts reading a novel ‘The unexpected Guest’ by ‘Agatha Christie’)

GRACE: (Talking to herself about novel) “OH MY GRACIOUS! She killed her husband, but I guess I bought this because I thought it looks like an Erotica from the title”

(Grace is moving her legs while laying on the bed by her stomach and suddenly she hits her foot on the corner of the furniture of the bed with sound”

GRACE: “Ouch. That hurts”

(There’s a sound again)

GRACE: “Now it doesn’t hurt (Realizing) It’s…..not me, this time”

(Grace closes the book, switches off the lights of the room and looks up from the window and she sees someone standing. So, she suddenly goes downstairs and then she jumps out of the window and looks around. She sees a man running off to a car and she follows him and catches him)

GRACE: “Take that hoodie off, you little piggy. Don’t think of running off again cause I’m not alone here, I have my friends here and they will catch you if I miss”

(Someone): “But I’m one of them”

GRACE: “What’s?”

(That person takes his hoodie off and turns around Grace)

GRACE: “SHWANNN!!”

SHWAN: “It was Mia”

GRACE: “What? What is happening? Why are you following me?”

MIA: “It’s Mia. She told me to keep an eye on you because she’s worrying that his boyfriend may hook up with you”

GRACE: “WOW! Why everyone here is telling lies to others? At first, it was JAKE who told lies to NICK and now it’s MIA?”

SHWAN: “Wait! Mia lied to me?”

GRACE: “Well, I guess she had some trust issues either on you or on me”

SHWAN: “So, what am I supposed to do now?”

GRACE: “GO HOME!”

(Shwan starts walking to his car)

GRACE: “And yeah, you can make a good cop”

{SCENE-5} [At School]

GRACE: “Hey NICK”

NICK: (Taunting) “What’s up my baby girl? How are you doing? (whispers) After leaving me at the café on our date?”

GRACE: “Look I need your help!”

NICK: “I won’t”

GRACE: “If you will help me, I can go on a date with you”

NICK: “Again? You think I will believe you this time?”

GRACE: “You like me, don’t you?”

NICK: “Of course I do, it’s just that…..”

GRACE: “How about a hug?”

NICK: “You think I’m a kindergarden kid?”

GRACE: “A Kiss?”

NICK: “If you think I’m a jerk then bye.”

(Nick walking away)

GRACE: “No, no. How about you become my boyfriend?”

NICK: “No”

GRACE: (Cunningly) “How about I become your girlfriend?”

NICK: (Thinking) Okay!

GRACE: (Sighing) “Great”

NICK: “Really? You are sighing? I don’t want a girlfriend then”

GRACE: “No, I didn’t sigh. I just took my breath out. You misunderstood that part”

NICK: “Alright. So what you want?”

GRACE: “I want you to take out Jake outside with you to have fun and make sure he’s with you all the time”

NICK: “Not a problem, but why?”

GRACE: “Did I tell you the rule of dating me?”

NICK: “What is it?”

GRACE: “Never say ‘Why’?”

NICK: “I’m not dating you. You are dating me”

GRACE: “It means the same, my boyfriend”

(Grace goes to Mia after leaving Nick’s accompany)

GRACE: “Hey Mia. Can you tell me..”

SHWAN: (To Mia) “Why did you lie to me?”

GRACE: “No, tell me, Jake lives with whom?”

MIA: “Her mom”

GRACE: “She saw you before?”

MIA: “No. Jake and I started dating not long ago. So I never went to his house to meet her mom”

GRACE: “I see”

SHWAN: “Why are you guys ignoring me?”

GRACE: “I’m busy right now. So, talk to your best friend SHWAN!!”

SHWAN: "You know someday I'll become a cop and imprison both of you"

MIA: (Smirking) "And I'll become your Officer and kick you out of your job"

SHWAN: (Annoyingly) "Whatever.."

(Grace leaves their accompany)

{SCENE- 6} [At Jake’s house]

(Bell rings)

JAKE’s MOTHER: (Opens the door) “Who are you?”

GRACE: “Hi! I’m MIA! Jake’s Girlfriend”
